Bluebird Cafe Series

Jess
I am proud to say I am one of the founding members of the upstart Americana Music Association. Over the last ten years, we have come a long way in getting the concept out there of roots music that isn't exactly country, not exactly rock and roll, but that has elements of those two traditions, plus others, like gospel, blues, and folk. And by combining, it isn't any longer purely any of those forms either, but has created a new sound, a new movement, if you will.

Through the year, we get to present some really cool stuff, primarily our showcase at SXSW, which is coming up soon, and our Conference and Festival in September in Nashville. And this year, we have a limited-run engagement at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. If you're going to be traveling there in the near future, you might want to check out a show; heck if you live in the Nashville environs, you might want to go to all of them. Here's the skinny.

i agree jessie, it has taken on a life of its own. Some want to call it Red dirt music as well. I dont know what to call it, some people are afraid of tagging a style of music with a certain genre, but when it comes down to it its just american music, no label needed.
